History of Audi

Audi with its logo containing four connected rings has become a well-known car make in the past decades. However, only few know what these four rings mean. Each ring represents one corporation that at the beginning of 20th century were most popular in the car business - DKW, Audi, Horch i Wanderer. They joined their powers on 29th June 193 (because of the crisis in the world) creating a company named Auto Union with HQ in Chemnitz. That was the second largest company producing cars in Germany. After the war, soviet administrative powers decided to close the Auto Union. However, this company was reopened in 1949 in the west of Germany - in Ingolstand.

In the year 1965 r. Volkswagen bought the company and since that time, the cars produced in Ingolstand were named AUDI.
