Cars manufactured by BMW are well-known luxury cars. BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) brand was created in 1917. Initially, it was building jet engines only and then (since 1923) it has started to build motorcycles.

In 1928, BMW bought company Dixi, which had been manufacturing Wartburg cars from 1898 and from 1904 - Dixi cars. From 1927, Dixi was offering cars based on Austin Sven and basing on these cars, the first models of BMW were produced: 3/15 DA1 and 3/15 DA2. BMW took over the companies: Varitas (in 1953), AFM (in 1954), Glas (in 1966) and Rover/Land Rover/MG/Mini (in 1994).
